Dear all,
I'm moving the website over to a new setup, from today www.1stlongridge.co.uk will link to a new site. www.1stlongridge.co.uk/scouts is the Scout section where our troop notices and information will be displayed.
I am also changing the provider for the email lists. You will need to re-register by clicking this link - Subscribe to Longridge Scout Troop by Email. The link is also available on the website front page.
Please also remember there will be no Scouts this week due to Leader's commitments
Thanks
Mark

Notices
Firstly, a big thank you to Judi and her team for the excellent Heartstart first aid training tonight. All the Scouts really enjoyed it and gained some really useful skills. Hopefully they won't be needed!
The next meeting will be in two weeks - the leaders cannot make it to Scouts next week.
Thanks too for the excellent response with the County Rally forms, the camp will go ahead, could those who forgot tonight please bring their forms in two weeks.
Finally, here are a few photos from last weekend when we went to Waddecar and planted over two hundred trees.

County Rally 2013
We now have the details for this year's County Rally at Waddecar. For those who don't know this is a huge camp with up to 1000 Scouts taking part in a wide range of activities. It is always a popular camp but places are limited so early booking is a good idea.
The form can be downloaded here and copies are also available at Scouts. Anybody attending who wants to have a go at air rifle shooting will also need to bring along a parental consent form which can be downloaded here.

Bowlander this weekend
To the Scouts that are going this weekend - Joe, Matt, Alex and Will.
I have just managed to get a leader to take you this weekend, nobody was available for Preston district but a leader from Ormskirk has volunteered.
I'm not sure what the arrangements will be yet for food, I have sent the leader an email and I'm waiting for his reply, so we'll either be sorting something ourselves or buying-in to whatever they are doing.
We can sort out the equipment tonight at Scouts - stoves, tents etc. obviously you will need the normal personal gear - walking clothes (no jeans), day sack, whistle, torch, gloves, hat, waterproofs, walking boots & small first aid kit.
There are a couple more forms to fill in and take with you, copies here and here or I'll bring some to Scouts tonight. The signature of the leader is required anyway.
See you tonight,
Mark

Bowlander Training / Service Team
As far as I know, there is only a single Scout interested in this weekend's Bowlander training session at Waddecar.
Anybody?
Also, I only have two names for the service team next weekend. Forms and £10 on Thursday please.
Thanks,
Mark

Bowlander 2013 Information
For many years the Bowlander event has been run by West Lancs Scouts and takes the form of a two day expedition around the local fells. The event is run as a competition but is also ideal for any Scout who would like to learn more about navigation and fellwalking.
There are training events held before the actual competition to teach Scouts the necessary skills.
On Saturday 2nd February a training day will be held for Scouts new to the event, it will be held at Beacon Fell and the cost is £3.
A two day training event is to be held on 2nd / 3rd March at Waddecar and the actual event is to be held on 13th / 14th April. More information about these dates will follow.
For now I could do to know how many Scouts would like to take part in the event. If you do the training you don’t have to take part in the competition (although I hope you will!) so don’t be put off if you are not free for just one of the dates. Please return the form to Scouts asap.
Click here for a copy of the form - Copies will be given out at Scouts
If you are going on the 2nd Feb there is an information sheet, you will also need to fill in a health form (copies also from Scouts)
I have received more information from the organiser click here for the flyer and here for more information.
Thanks,
Mark

Service Team in March
I have now confirmed the dates for the service team as 8th - 10th March. Forms will be handed out at Scouts on Thursday but if you would like to download a copy click here.
The Scouts will be sleeping indoors and the cost of the weekend is £10 to cover food. Whilst there we will be helping out with the running of Waddecar and helping the Service Crew.
It's also a great way to meet other Scouts and will count towards the challenge badges.
