Climbing on Thursday

Dear all,

We are going climbing on Thursday leaving from the Scout Hut at 7pm - please make sure you are there. We may also need a parent to help with transport.
The session finishes at 9pm so we should be back around 9.30pm.

Wear uniform shirts with comfortable trousers and clean trainers.

Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Sunday this year is 11th November 2012, the parade leaves the British Legion at 10am and usually finishes at noon. We will walk in full uniform. Those Scouts who do not yet have a uniform can walk in their school uniforms. We only have two parades a year so it is important that we support this and look our best.

Crew Challenge

Do you want to take part in the Service Crew Challenge? It is being held on November 10th (start at the fell at 9.30 finish at Waddecar at 2.30) and if you want to take part I need to know.

For those who don't know, the Crew Challenge is an annual competition held on Beacon Fell in November. Teams of three Scouts navigate around the fell and try to earn as many points as they can at the various bases.
More information is to be found here.

If you would like to go please let me know on Thursday.

September – Group camp including Survival Skills 24hr Challenge.

Summer Camp 2013 - Egypt

Next year West Lancashire Scouts are organising an Egypt Experience open to all Scouts in West Lancashire.

The trip will be held over the last two weeks of August (dates to be confirmed) and will include

• The pyramids of Giza
• The Aswan High Dam
• Nile River Cruise
• Valley of the Kings
• Water activities on the Nile
• A Few days in Cairo

The trip will cost no more than £1150 per person and included in the price will be flights, transport within the country, accommodation, insurance and main activities.

To secure a place a non-refundable deposit of £100 will need to be paid by September with the balance being paid in instalments after that.

There is obviously much more to discuss but at this stage if you are interested, please let me know.

County Rally

A great County Rally at Waddecar last weekend!

Lots of activities including canoeing, climbing, shooting, archery and circus skills were enjoyed by all who attended.

Tent Pitching

Just a reminder, we will be meeting at Waddecar tonight to pitch the tents. Meet there at 7 o'clock and we will be finished by 9.
It will be very busy tonight, share a car if possible, meet us on the field to the right of the main car park.

1^st Longridge Scouts

St. Georges Day Parade – 22^nd April 2012

Our annual St. Georges day parade will be held in Preston on the morning of 22^nd April. We will meet on the covered market at 10.15am to move off at 10.30am, If you have problems with transport please let us know, we will see what we can do. (Car parking is not allowed on the Covered Market)

As this is the one occasion of the year when all Scouts in the District parade together in the public eye please ensure that your turnout is of the highest standard.

After a short parade we will attend a service in the Guild Hall which normally finishes at around noon.

Bike Ride – 22^nd April 2012

After the parade we will meet back at the Scout hut, and after a quick change and packed lunch we will go out for the afternoon – probably a bike ride. If you do not have a bike let us know, we can usually help. Helmets are essential.  

More details nearer the time.

County Rally – 11^th to 13^th May 2012

Our first camp of the year. We have decided to attend this year’s County rally – held every year at Waddecar it is a camp for around 1000 Scouts and offers a weekend of activities and fun. The cost of the camp will be £25 this covers all activities, food, camp fees and a badge.

Following the disappointment of the last camp I need to know who is going. Places must be booked well in advance as numbers are often rationed. In addition leaders must take time off work to attend the camp; this is simply not worth doing for two Scouts. If you want to go camping here is your chance.

Please let me know by Sunday 8^th April either at Scouts, by phone (01772 861319), by email (mark@mwjoyce.co.uk) or by text (07857 385180) – even if you cannot go, let me know.

I will be submitting our numbers on 9^th April so if you have not replied you will not be going.

Badges

A few badges have been awarded but are still not sewn on. I know it’s a horrible job but could we please make an effort to get them sewn on.
